Frequently Asked Questions
If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to Forge Project click here. We appreciate your support! Forge Project recommends additional direct payments in the amount of your choosing to the Cultural Affairs Department at the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.
Forge Project does not currently have the capacity to support unsolicited work, but we recommend referencing the artist resources compiled by the Native Arts & Cultures Foundation. Also, we recommend Indigenous arts and culture workers apply to our Forge Project Fellowship program.
orge Project is not a tribal representative and does not have the capacity to accept any historical cultural belongings (artifacts), either as a gift, or as a form of repatriation. Forge Project is also not in a position to offer information regarding cultural identification, value, or use of an item.
If you have a historical cultural belonging that you are seeking advice on return, we suggest that you contact the tribal representative Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO). If you are unsure of the provenance of the item, use your best judgement in contacting the community where the item may have originated from. If a tribe does not have a THPO office, representatives at the tribal museum are another form of contact. Please note that many tribes have limited capacity and cannot respond to all inquiries. We encourage you to contact official tribal representatives versus an individual or non-Native organization regarding any matters of repatriation.
If you encounter an artifact in situ, please do not disturb or collect the item but reach out to the appropriate THPO officer on whose ancestral lands it is on.
