2PM ET

Following presentations of their performance works on the opening day of Indian Theater: Native Performance, Art, and Self-Determination since 1969, Rebecca Belmore (Member of the Lac Seul First Nation (Anishinaabe)), Nicholas Galanin (Tlingit/Unangax̂) and Muriel Miguel (Rappahannock and Kuna) of Spiderwoman Theater will discuss their work in relation to the exhibition’s unifying principles of resistance and self-determination. The show is curated by Indigenous cultural thought leader Candice Hopkins, who will moderate a conversation focused on Belmore’s performance Sawkill, Galanin’s work White Carver, and Muriel Miguel’s work as a performer and playwright, and the legacy of Spiderwoman Theater.

This conversation is presented by the Center for Indigenous Studies at Bard College, in partnership with CCS Bard.
